David Blaine Under Investigation Over Two Sexual Assault Complaints

Two women have come forward to accuse celebrity magician David Blaine of sexual assault, as per the New York Police Department.

NYPD’s chief of detectives said the 45-year-old star is "under active investigation" by the department’s Special Victims Unit. He declined to offer a comment to The Daily Beast, which first reported the allegations on Monday (April 1). Over at CNN, unnamed sources revealed that one of the allegations may fall outside the statute of limitations. As per The Daily Beast report, one of his accusers admitted that she was sexually assaulted by the magician inside his Manhattan apartment in 1998. "The NYPD takes sexual assault and rape cases extremely seriously," Chief Spokesman Phil Walzak said in a statement. "And urges anyone who has been a victim to file a report so we can perform a comprehensive investigation, and offer support and services to survivors."

Blaine, who set to begin a tour in the U.K. and Ireland in June, has been hit with these kind of accusations in the past. Back in 2007, former model Natasha Prince alleged that the magician raped her in London in 2004. While he denied her accusations, Scotland Yard detectives took her statement and declined to take further action after investigating her claims.
