Vanessa Bryant Honors Gianna On What Would've Been Her Graduation Day

Vanessa Bryant honored her late daughter Gianna on what would've been her 8th grade graduation.

On Friday (June 5), Vanessa celebrated what was supposed to be Gianna’s graduation at the Harbor Day private school this weekend. Taking to Instagram with a touching note honoring her daughter’s accomplishment, Vanessa wrote in the caption, "Congratulations on your 8th grade graduation Gigi. I love you forever and always. I'm so proud of you."

The widow of Kobe Bryant also included a picture of Gianna’s graduation lei and diploma. The bittersweet post comes just months after Gianna was due to start her freshman year of high school this fall. According to E! News, it’s reported that Harbor Day also honored the rising athlete by including an image of her team jersey in the school’s Class of 2020 collage.

As many know, Kobe and Gianna lost their lives along with seven other passengers in a helicopter crash on January 26 while traveling to a Mamba Academy basketball game. She was 13, her father 41.

The emotional achievement comes months after Vanessa celebrated Gianna’s becoming an honorary pick for the 2020 WNBA Draft back on April 17. “It would have been a dream come true for her. She worked tirelessly every single day. She wanted to be one of the greatest athletes of all-time, just like her daddy,” she said during the broadcast. “So thank you, thank you for honoring my little girl.”

"I'm so proud of you, Gigi. God I miss you baby. You deserved to live a long, healthy and happy life," Vanessa later added of Gianna's achievement on Instagram. "I wish I could hold you and tell you how proud I am of you. You're the best, baby girl. Mommy loves and misses you more than I could ever express."
