Umm⊠did Ariana Grande throw shade at Pete Davidson on her new record?
Arianators are pretty convinced the pop star sneakily slipped in a diss at her ex-fiance on her newest track, âPositions,â which premiered at midnight (October 23) along with a presidential music video. Although the song marks the dawn of a new era for Grande, some fans believe the songbird is back to her Thank U, Next ways again.
How so, you ask? Well, fans couldnât help but analyze a verse at the very beginning of the record in which she stresses a particular syllable. The line in question: âHeaven sent you to me/ I'm just hopinâ I don't repeat history.â
Did you catch it? In case you didnât, one Twitter user ran the lyric back. âAri said⊠âHeaven sent you to me. Iâm just hoping I donât repeat history,ââ they tweeted, later emphasizing, âRe-PETE history. Pete Davidson! Cmon Ariana!â
Another Twitter user also noted, "Ariana did not just split repeat to sound like reâPETE hahahah so smart #POSITIONS.â
As fans know, the â7 Ringsâ singer and the Saturday Night Live comedian were once involved in a fast-paced romance back in 2018. Months after their whirlwind relationship-turned-engagement, the stars suffered a highly-publicized breakup in October 2018.
Sadly, things only soured for the exes as Davidson and Grande seemingly took subtle shots at each other. The fallout would make profitable source material for the 27-year-old, who made a number-one hit out of her heartbreak with her smash hit single âThank U, Next.â
