Contingency plan if Chicago Public School teachers & staff go on strike

CPS is offering teachers a 16% raise over 5 years, but they also want smaller class sizes, more librarians, nurses, and social workers written in their contracts.

Both the Chicago Teachers Union & CPS want to reach a deal by October 17th, if not teachers plan to strike.

The city does have a contingency plan in place should teachers go on strike. Some schools, Chicago public libraries and community sites will still be open for parents to drop students off. School buses will not be running.
