Ashanti & Keyshia Cole's 'Verzuz' Battle Postponed Again

Ashanti and Keyshia Cole won’t be battling in an installment of Verzuz this weekend after all.

On Friday (January 8), event organizers announced another delay in the R&B titans' dueling after the affair was postponed from December 12 to January 9 after Ashanti tested positive for COVID-19. In their statement, the folks behind the event cited this week’s Capitol riots and the surging amount of coronavirus cases as the reasons for the pushback.

"This has been an emotional week. In addition, as COVID-19 numbers continue to increase, safety is a top priority for us," read the statement on Instagram. "As much as we enjoy having everyone together in the same room, to protect the artists and everyone who works with us in putting the shows together, we’ll be going back to separate locations for a bit. We’re excited for the next few events, and look forward to getting back to the show in the coming weeks.”

In December, Ashanti came forward to reveal that she was free from coronavirus after she and the rest of her family were diagnosed. "Feeling grateful 🙏🏽 My parents and I got our negative results back right in time to start off the New Year healthy, happy & loved," she told fans.
